Job Description
Temp Senior Research Associate, Cancer Cell & Systems Biology
The Opportunity:
As a key member of the Biology team, you will:
Independently conduct key experiments to support new target identification and validation efforts
Contribute to the development of and perform in vitro and cell-based assays to support identification of tractable chemical matter targeting new oncogenic targets in RAS-driven cancers
Apply various cellular, molecular, and genetic techniques to characterize and enhance our mechanistic understanding of novel anti-cancer agents
Maintain cultures of multiple human cancer cell lines simultaneously to support experimental efforts
Perform various cell-based assays to interrogate effects of inhibitors on signaling pathways
Perform microplate-based quantitative assays using reagent kits
Analyze and interpret experimental data, formulate testable hypotheses and propose follow up experiments within project scope, and present results at internal meetings
Collaborate with team members to generate novel insights into key drivers of RAS-driven cancers
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Cell/Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, Genetics, or related field
6+ years of experience in an industry position or academic lab involving cell/tissue culture and cell/molecular biology OR 3-5 years of experience with a Master’s degree
Demonstrated proficiency with a wide range of cell and molecular biology techniques (e.g., cell line engineering, SDS-PAGE/Western blot, molecular cloning, DNA/RNA preparation, PCR, qPCR, etc.)
Proficiency with cell/tissue culture, including the ability to maintain multiple human cancer cell lines simultaneously with strong aseptic technique
Rigorous, detail-oriented, and quantitative experimentalist
Proven ability to proactively and independently problem solve with minimum guidance
Highly organized, with excellent record keeping and written/verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and complete tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines
Innovative and adaptable team-player with an eagerness to learn new techniques
Note: This is a lab-based role. Therefore, it is expected that the team member be on-site 5 days per week.
Preferred Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency with relevant assay readout technologies (e.g., CellTiter-Glo, AlphaLISA, MSD)
Experience with automation (e.g., robotic liquid handlers, cell seeders, etc.)
Familiarity with data processing, curve fitting, and visualization tools to analyze small and large datasets (e.g., GraphPad Prism, Genedata Screener, D360, or Spotfire)
