The refrigeration apprentice mechanic will work under the direction of the Refrigeration Technician. The refrigeration apprentice mechanic will do daily rounds of the refrigeration equipment, record in logbooks and report discrepancies to the Refrigeration Technician. The refrigeration apprentice mechanic will perform maintenance on the equipment. This will include but is not limited to cleaning tanks, cleaning engine rooms, changing water filters, changing out pumps, replacing fan motors, replacing belts, rebuilding compressors, rebuilding BPR’s, replacing valves, painting pipes, repairing pipe insulation, and troubleshooting the electrical and ammonia systems.
Skills:
• Required to have their own tools.
• Required to work in confined spaces, heights, climb ladders, work on building rooftops.
• Must be able to lift up to 75lbs.
• Must be comfortable wearing a full-face respirator.
• Must have basic knowledge of computers. (Microsoft office, email).
• Required to gain knowledge of the refrigeration systems and the Preventative maintenance program.
• Required to gain knowledge in Process Safety Management.
Qualifications:
• Ammonia Refrigeration or HVAC experience (preferred but not required).
• HMI controls experience (preferred but not required).
• Electrical experience (preferred but not required).
• Scissor lift and boom lift experience (preferred but not required).
• Forklift experience (preferred but not required).
• Background in workplace safety (preferred but not required).
• Plumbing experience (preferred but not required).
