Job Description

We are seeking R&D CHEMISTS & a R&D DIRECTOR for specialty chemical manufacturers in the SOUTHEAST. (We are based in Columbia, SC with positions nationwide). Hands-on positions. The R&D Director will interact with the Global R&D Team, Business Development, Sales & Marketing, and plant operations. The R&D Chemists will work as Bench Chemists involving reaction chemistries. Stage Gate Process.

• Will develop new product concepts including proprietary blends using both products and co-producer products. Will compile applications performance requirements specific to the various product lines. Utilize chemicals, chemical compounds and chemical processes to create new products and technologies. Work in a laboratory setting conducting tests. Tests involve mixing different chemicals or polymers together to discover the results and chemical properties.
• Will also utilize computerized databases that contain searchable lists of chemicals and chemical reactions; using those research results to brainstorm ideas for new products.
• Research potential raw material alternatives and possible substitute materials
• Plan and perform laboratory work to develop a database of properties and uses of all functional products of the corporation.
• Provide technical assistance to customers in cases involving product use.
• Support plant operations in process improvements and problem troubleshooting
• Participate in PSM certifications

REQUIRES:

PhD in Chemistry. Bench Chemist positions require 3+ years experience.
