Your Specific Responsibilities:
The nursing consultant will work in a collaborative environment supporting the Florida Refugee Health Program, which offers health assessments and immunizations to persons eligible for refugee services. This is a high-profile position that requires strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills. The nursing consultant will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of culturally appropriate refugee health services provided by county health departments (CHDs). Other position responsibilities include policy development and analysis, clinical consultation, and liaison with state and local partners. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide guidance and technical assistance to CHD (statewide, local and/or regional) nurses on topics such as health education, disease prevention, health assessment guidelines, immunizations, up-to-date standards of nursing practice, and strategies for delivering culturally and linguistically appropriate care. Develop core clinical competencies for nursing and allied health staff performing refugee health assessments. The clinical competencies will be measurable, objective and consistent with current standards.
Perform quality improvement and quality assurance (QI/QA) reviews of CHD programs (statewide, local and/or regional) based on clinical competencies. Write site visit reports and make recommendations for program improvement. Review QI methodology, provide recommendations for enhancements, and collaborate with program staff to implement changes to the methodology. Serve as a member of the program liaison team for departmental QI/QA activities.
Develop and/or prepare manuals, pamphlets, visual aids, and other materials including cultural competency training material for CHD staff. Update and review educational materials related to refugee health. Keep informed of current events relevant to refugee and entrant populations.
Provide consultation and technical assistance to program staff (state, regional and local level) and other public and private refugee services providers within the State of Florida. Collaborate with program staff on the development or revision of policies, procedures, plans, reports or related documents.
Cultivate and maintain professional linkages with refugee services providers and interrelated organizations or programs, including attendance at Department of Children and Families Refugee Task Force meetings (statewide, regional and/or local).
Perform other duties as assigned.

Licensed as a registered nurse to practice in State of Florida
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

2 years nursing experience
2 years Quality Assurance/Improvement experience in a clinical/healthcare setting
2 years case management experience
2 years immunization/vaccine administration experience
2 years clinic administration experience
Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing or Higher
