SUMMARY:

Calling all business management, analytics majors. Seeking an internship opportunity in a corporate environment? The Emerging Markets Board Relations department is responsible for the integrity of the Emerging Markets and Joint Venture corporate governance frameworks, regulatory compliance matters related to the boards of directors, board governance best practices, implementing decisions made by the boards of directors, the management and maintenance of entity data and corporate records for 44 legal entities, licensed in all 50 states.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Board Relations summer intern will be responsible for the following:
  • Data entry and documentation maintenance in the entity management system with accuracy and understanding of how/where to apply information received
  • Interpretation of various legal, compliance, corporate documentation and information
  • Quality assurance, report generation to ensure all entity data and corporate record documentation is accurately represented and maintained, distribution of documentation and information to internal, external clients, as required
  • Organization and transition of hard copy records into electronic filing system
  • Develop internal process control documentation
  • Complete various departmental, governance and regulatory-related tasks, as assigned
  • Assist with department projects, as required
  • Work with Microsoft Office software applications including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Professional level verbal and written communication
  • Work independently and within a team dynamic
  • Maintain confidentiality
EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Have status as a sophomore, junior or senior as of the end of the spring term (or be enrolled in an applicable graduate program.
  • Hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better as of the most recent grading period.
  • Be able to work full-time in Lansing office during normal business hours in June, July, August or until fall semester commences.
  • Be available to begin employment by late May.
EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE: Currently enrolled and active in any educational degree program that aligns with our various businesses.

EXPERIENCE: With proper education credentials no experience necessary. Previous work experience preferred.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to proofread documents for spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to perform necessary mathematical computations.
  • Ability to comprehend consequences of various situations and make appropriate individuals aware of same for decision making.
  • Ability to exchange information clearly and concisely and to present ideas, report facts and other information.
  • Ability to establish own workflows, manage multiple projects and meet necessary deadlines while maintaining composure during stressful situations occurring as a result of workloads and/or deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.

Actual compensation decision relies on the consideration of internal equity, candidate's skills and professional experience, geographic location, market and other potential factors. It is not standard practice for an offer to be at or near the top of the range, and therefore a reasonable estimate for this role is between $18 and $33.
