(Tesla) seeks a full-time editor to join its editing team. Most of the editor’s hours will support a high-impact federal program. About Us: Tesla Government Inc. Position Summary: Editors support the Research and Knowledge Management team on work with government and military users to help meet those users’ information needs. Key Responsibilities:Edit research projects, news summaries, briefs, marketing materials, and presentations in various digital formats
Perform a wide range of editing tasks, from proofreading to substantive editing and fact checking
Collaborate with a team of writers to produce high-quality products on deadline
Help update and maintain a program style guide
Provide feedback to writers and train new writers in program style
Other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
At least two years of professional editing experience
US citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance
Excellent English reading, writing, fact-checking, and editing skills
Strong substantive editing skills, including in:
Proofreading
Copy editing
Determining the accuracy of content through fact-checking
Organizing large amounts of information
Ability to provide effective and constructive critical feedback
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability/willingness to learn new software
A bachelor’s degree
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
A degree related to writing or international affairs
Experience working with the federal government or the military
Working knowledge of a second language
International experience
Experience editing subject matter experts
Knowledge of/experience in graphic design or document design
Experience teaching or tutoring writing

Salary: The wage range for this role takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Tesla, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $60-65k.
