Job Description

Dispatcher/Freight Broker

Duties will include:

Tracking of drivers while in transit, Receive and review driver work assignments, Dispatch loads to the drivers (issue load information, loading instructions, directions, routing, and fuel information), Calling customers for scheduling, Alerting fellow team members of issues/changes that might impact driver success, Promoting safety through active management of our drivers hours of availability, Focusing on driver utilization and retention through understanding our driver requirements/preferences, Driver motivation, evaluation, and conflict resolution, and more!

• Provide operational leadership and support to drivers, dispatchers and terminal managers.
• Ensure a safe working environment and equipment for drivers, including but not limited to, ensuring drivers are complying with applicable federal, state and local safety laws and regulations.
• Ensure drivers are properly trained and have an adequate understanding of customers and company expectations, policies and practices.
• Monitors drivers’ performance and activities
• Communicate with individual drivers on a regular basis to build morale and be able to assess drivers' capabilities and concerns
• Monitor equipment daily for needed services or repairs
• Communicate with the service manager on scheduled equipment repairs and service
• Additional duties would be the ability to back up the terminal manager and dispatch managers
• Provide dispatch coverage on assigned weekends
• Ability to assist with logistics and bidding and rating customers hauls
• Ability to review and understand Carrier Agreements and Access Agreements
• The Operations manager would work with and assist the company owners in the operation of the regional terminals
• Fluent in computer applications and keyboard proficiency.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful work environment.
• Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including good listening skills.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
• Experience: 5+ years' leadership experience within a logistics, operations planning, distribution center or supply chain related environment.
